The Help Center Academy is live on Product Hunt!

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Hi folks! I spent quite a lot of time last month to make the ultimate free guide on how to create a successful help center. Talked to experts, gathered dozens of helpful tools also analyzed hundreds of help centers from running my own SaaS HelpKit and this is the result ๐Ÿ˜Š

Goal is to make it the ultimate resource for learning how to create a help center ๐Ÿ’ช

I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments! ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ

HelpKit reached $3000 MRR and going full-time indiehacking

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Today marks the third big milestone for me as an Indiehacker. Helpkit, my 100% bootstrapped SaaS, reached $3000 in MRR! That is over 130 paying customers.

From small ambitious content creators to publicly traded companies are all now using HelpKit and Notion to serve their knowledge bases.

This is huge because it basically allows me to go full-time on indiehacking while still being in school (I need to finish my thesis asap). My goal for this summer was to reach $1K for ramen profitability and now reaching 3x is genuinely incredible and I am incredibly grateful for the experience so far.

Next milestone: HelpKit reached $2000 MRR!

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Today marks the second big milestone for me as an Indiehacker.

HelpKit, my 100% bootstrapped SaaS, reached $2000 in MRR! ๐ŸŽ‰

Over 90+ customers are now using HelpKit and Notion to serve their knowledge bases ๐Ÿ’ช That's over 3000 help articles ๐Ÿคฏ

โ†’ It took around 5 months to reach $1000 MRR โ†’ It took 1.5 months to reach $2000 MRR

To be completely honest with you, I did not expect this kind of fast growth but I am thoroughly enjoying it!

Here are five quick lessons I have learned.

๐Ÿง  Lesson 1: Full focus

One of the biggest actions for HelpKit's success was forcing myself not to work on my other products. It was SO hard to resist but this way, I couldn't procrastinate and made sure to make the product as perfect as I could. Consistency > Motivation

๐Ÿท Lesson 2: Don't overthink your pricing

In the beginning, you need to make an educated guess about your pricing. There's no way you will know what works and what doesn't. Pick a price and go. Don't overthink. With time you'll find the right value metrics your customers value.

๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™‚๏ธ Lesson 3: Stop worrying about eventualities

There will be things in your product that will make you feel it's not worth the price or it doesn't meet your user's requirements. Unless a user addresses it, stop worrying. Countless doubts I had simply never turned into reality.

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Lesson 4: Be a human

Don't hide behind the corporate "we". One powerful advantage we @IndieHackers have is that we can build closer, more personal connections with our customers. Hop on a call and tell them your story. They might become your ambassadors.

๐Ÿง–โ€โ™‚๏ธ Lesson 5: Take your time

If you don't feel like working on your project, take a break. Go to the gym, play with your cats, go surfing. Doesn't matter if you need one day or one week. It can be so easy to lose yourself in work. This is not a sprint. It's a marathon.

That's it for now! If you have any questions, more than happy to answer here! :)

The story behind my Notion-powered knowledge base tool ($890 MRR)

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Hey fellow OpenMaker!

Got interviewed by Makerpad, a no-code educatio community, about my journey building Helpkit as a self-taught developer.

I talk about how everything started, share my learnings growing it to $890 MRR and try to give advice to inspiring IndieHackers ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป

HelpKit just hit $500 MRR! Big first milestone.

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Hey Openmakers ๐Ÿ‘‹

HelpKit, my Notion-2-Knowledge Base SaaS tool just hit $500 MRR ๐ŸŽ‰ A big first milestone!

2021 couldn't end any better.

It's been 3 months so far and the feedback is great. I'm also very grateful for all the amazing people HelpKit allowed me to connect so far. Hyped to see where we can grow in 2022 ๐Ÿ’ช

The past month has been incredibly stressful for me in other parts of my life and my ability to work on HelpKit's growth was also limited, therefore. Hitting this big target before the year ends means a lot to me.

Have a question? Don't hesitate to ask :) I'm doing an AMA on my Twitter.

Launched Blog with First Post! ✍️

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

Over the past few days I have been working on creating HelpKit's blog. Yesterday I have finished the design for the article layout as well as the first blog post.

Took a while to write it and there's definitely room to grow but feels great to get it out finally.

Here's the link to the blog post:

🥳 First customers rolling in and early marketing efforts showing results

Published by: sobedominik, Founder of HelpKit

HelpKit has just received the second customer, this time someone signed up for the premium plan of $29/m. They have already added 69 articles to their knowledge base which is a really great sign โœจ

Almost three weeks after the soft launch on Twitter, I am finally seeing some traction which feels great.

Working on some new marketing channels now to see how to speed up to conversion rate. I'd like to briefly share the two most prominent so far:

๐ŸŒฑ A little growth hack: Notion Simple Table

I am a huge Notion fan but there's this one thing that is still not available: A simple table.

Yes, there's no simple to add to your Notion page ๐Ÿ˜†

However, I found out a hack where you can use the math equation block and LaTeX notation to create beautifully-looking simple tables.

So I decided to follow Rob Wallings's advice and built a simple and free generator around it so that Notion users can easily generate their tables without messing around with the complex LaTeX notation.

Here are the results so far for

  • ๐Ÿ‘ค4.4K unique visitors
  • ๐Ÿงฎ 1.2K tables created so far
  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ650 unique visitors for Helpkit
  • โœจ 24 new trial sign ups for Helpkit
  • ๐Ÿ˜ป 328+ upvotes and #5 Product of the Day on Product Hunt
  • ๐Ÿฅฐ Lots of love on Reddit, FB, etc. (424+ likes/votes on Social Media)

Wall of Love

๐Ÿ“น Publishing help videos on Youtube

In addition to NotionSimpleTable, I am also spending efforts in creating compelling videos of HelpKit on Youtube since it is the second largest search engine in the world.

That's it for now ๐Ÿ˜‰
