From my POV, the future of VR is most likely in gaming and experiences. Just like the internet allowed people to reach any information they need, VR will allow them to experience anything they want.

It might have a potentially amazing effect on education, mental health, entertainment but also on commerce, real estate, etc.

I think that our biggest challenge will be the maintain the balance between activities that are effective to do in the VR and those which have a better effect on us when they're done in real life. We don't wanna end up with a similar (or worse) level of addiction and depressions which Facebook or Instagram causes nowadays to teenagers.
